The steps on the road to recovery:
1. initial assessment:
We take time to hear your story. Have you been told surgery is the only option? You have the “worst knee they have ever seen?” Failed trials of care with other providers? These past experiences matter to us. We want to know where you are at currently, so we can collectively make a path get to where you want to go.
Our initial assessment includes orthopedic and neurologic testing, comprehensive movement screen, and a hands on assessment. This information will help identify the root cause and guide our treatment to sustained relief.
2. Clear communication and education
One of the most important parts about patient centered care is communication. Pain can be tricky and misleading so it is important to have a clear understanding of it first. You have the right to know what is going on in your body and what can be done about it.
3. Calm it down
Pain is an unpleasant experience, produced by the brain to protect the body. We have many tools in the toolbox to help decrease the painful sensation, allowing us a window of opportunity to focus on building things back up.
4. Build it back up
Pain is often the last thing to come on, and the first thing to leave. Our end goal is to improve the function and capacity of the body to make you better equipped to handle your day to day activities.
